Maria Sharapova may have finished a runner-up this year, but she tops one table at The Championships - as the competitor in the ladies' singles who made the most challenges to line calls using the Player Challenge System.
The summary of challenges to line calls made by players - a system only available on Wimbledon's four main show courts - makes fascinating reading. In the ladies' singles competition, the total number of made challenges was 179, with 59 being declared correct - which works out as a 33% success rate for the players.
Four players had an eagle-eyed 100% success rate: Akgul Amanmuradova, Kimiko Date-Krumm, Andrea Petkovic and Elena Vesnina. Dominika Cibulkova gets the wooden spoon for most challenges without getting a single call overturned - six.
Sharapova - despite getting two calls overturned to hold her second service game in the final - is on record as having made the most challenges, albeit in seven matches. She referred 18 line calls and got four overturned - a success rate of 22%. By contrast, Petra Kvitova made 11 challenges in her seven matches with a success rate of 64%.
