Vidic returns to Man Utd action
Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic returned to action after eight months out injured as he played an hour of the 0-0 friendly draw with Valerenga.
Vidic, 30, missed most of last season after
he suffered knee ligament damage against Basel
in December.
“I felt well,” the defender told MUTV. “My knee felt well and hopefully the next game will be better.”
Assistant Mike Phelan took charge in Norway as manager Sir Alex Ferguson attended to “other club business”.
Left-back Patrice Evra also missed the game after he travelled back to Manchester to be at the birth of his child.
Both men are expected to return for Wednesday’s friendly against Barcelona in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Juventus GM Marotta admits drawing blanks for Van Persie, Jovetic
Juventus GM Beppe Marotta says they're working hard to find a new striker signing.
Marotta was asked about their interest in signing Arsenal’s Robin Van Persie or Fiorentina’s Stevan Jovetic.
“The top player we are looking for is not only a name with an important price-tag attached. What we mean by top player is someone who can improve our quality level.
“Van Persie is an excellent player and Arsenal have no intention of losing him. It is not possible to negotiate for a player if the club is not open to talks.
“As for Jovetic, it’s only right that Fiorentina ruled he is off the market. We never even tried to get close to him.”

Bayern deny move for Pirlo
Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has rubbished reports linking his club with a move for Italy international Andrea Pirlo.
Reports in Italy claimed Bayern had made a bid of 10million euros for the Juventus midfielder, who was a key figure in Italy's Euro 2012 campaign, but Rummenigge says the reports are without foundation.
"FC Bayern have neither made an offer to Juventus, nor have FC Bayern had any contact with the player or his agent," he said in a statement published on the Bundesliga club's website.
Bayern have made six new signings already this summer and are not expected to add any further new faces to their squad for next season.
Xherdan Shaqiri is the only new midfielder, joining the likes of Bastian Schweinsteiger, Thomas Muller, Toni Kroos, Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery in the Bavarians' squad.

Catania Vs AC Milan football match preview

Stramaccioni vows to repay Inter faith
The former Primavera coach has admitted that his appointment as head coach at the Nerazzurri is a dream come true, and he is determined to prove his worth
New Inter coach Andrea Stramaccioni has stated that he is keen to reward the Nerazzurri for the faith the club have shown by naming him their new trainer. The 36-year-old replaced Claudio Ranieri as the man in charge at the San Siro side on Monday, and revealed that taking over at Inter is like a dream come true.
"It's a wonderful dream, emotions that only sport and football can give you. Who do I dedicate this dream to? To my club, for showing faith in me; now I have to repay them for it," Stramaccioni said during his official unveiling. "It was totally unexpected, a present from president [Massimo] Moratti. I think it is simple: I have always been myself and if Moratti has decided to give me this chance it's because of the results. "The president asked me to carry what he saw in the Primavera across to the first team: conviction and a love for these colours. As the president said yesterday: 'we have to win'. I have faith in the players, in the club and in myself. We'll take each game as it comes."
Stramaccioni will make his debut as Inter coach in the Serie A match at home against Genoa on April 1. Meanwhile, Manchester City attacker Mario Balotelli made a surprise appearance at Tuesday's press conference as he visited the Nerazzurri facilities to greet some of his former Inter team-mates.
